Good for you! I built a strawbale home about 10 years ago, we loved it, unfortunately it was too big (3000 SQ FT) and we sold it a few years ago. We now live in a yurt and are adapting it to living more and more off the grid! Hoping to build another strawbale one day, but it’ll be lots smaller!

Well I didn’t understand very much of it other than the overall gist. But it’s still an interesting post to me. I keep this kind of information filed. I like to know “who knows what” in case I’m in need of information or help down the track.

What I also like is the way you’re combining modern technology with the desire to go off-grid. You’re not trying to live 100% “pioneer” without computers etc.

Interesting post. I’ve been living on my boat, 2 120 watt panels and wind generator. Currently researching the small form PC’s like the shuttle as both energy saver and as a server with connections to laptops. Will have to check out the WD solution.

I don’t find this post dry, I’m actually into the getting-off-the-grid mood as well. It’s more of a goal for us not actually a mood.
